computers
Our target is to reduce the usage of power of all facilities in primary schools by 2o%.
We can all help by adjusting the brightness of computer screens. We can tailor the monitor to meet our own needs. Adjust brightness so that the black region of the picture is as black as possible, but just on the threshold of becoming visible. But avoid setting it too high, which will reduce your contrast ratio and need more energy to operate. Also, computers should be switched on only when needed, and should be shut down when not in use.

air-conditioners
Use the air-conditioning only when necessary, avoiding to turn it on at all other times, especially when the room is empty for an extended period. Make sure that the heaters and air-conditioners are not set to high or too low, the ideal temperature setting is between 17-21 in winter, and 26 in summer.
To improve the efficiency of airconditioning and heating staff and students are encouraged to keep all doors and windows closed whils airconditioners are in use. We have recently had all small gaps and openings repaired to help increase efficient use of power.

other appliances
Staff and students should be reponsible for switching off all appliances, such as photocopiers, computers, printers, particularly at night. They still consume energy even when they are not being used, but still powered to standby. Switch off the computer monitor because the Screen Saver does not save energy, just the screen! The reduction of energy consumption can reach to 7-8% if the computer screens are off properly.
